ARNO RAUNIG - SOPRANIST

Why Sopranist?  The timbre of Arno Raunig's voice is not that of a counter-tenor,  it is more like that of the trained Castrati singers of the baroque period.  His vocal range is very great, and can adapt to both delicate pianissimo and hard, aggressive Fortissimo.  In crescendos Raunig can combine the power of a tenor with the range of a soprano, yet can sing lower alto also with comfort.

This remarkable voice can be found on Campion Cameo 2003 "Castrato Arias and Motets" but D I Music are also able to offer two independently produced CDs where Arno Raunig sings to piano accompaniment:

Farinelli ( 1705 - 1782) was a vocal phenomenon of his time - technically the most accomplished singer of his days with a vocal range of more than three octaves, described by Handel as a 'singing machine'! Arno Raunig has a similar vocal range. He started his career as a soloist in the Vienna Boys' Choir. This collection of songs provides a show case for Raunig's exceptional talent. A beautiful disc.
