They are wonderfully performed by Inessa Galante and the CD concludes with four of Rachmaninov's romantic songs. The recordings have been remastered by Campion Records from tapes found in the archive of Radio Latvia that were made during the last years of Russian occupation between 1986 and 1991. They have the freshness and excitement of a premiere broadcast and Inessa Galante sings the songs with great vocal skill, with charm and where appropriate, a sense of fun. The Goldins collection is drawn from the beautiful heritage of Jewish song found in Russia and neighbouring countries.
